NEW DELHI: More than five,000 positions of judicial officials in district and subordinate courts are lying vacant, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad stated Wednesday in Lok Sabha as he emphasized the desire for putting in all-India judicial services and products.
The sanctioned power of the judicial officials in district and subordinate courts was once 22,644 as on September 30, 2018, the minister stated mentioning information provided by means of the top courts and respective state governments.
"The number of judicial officers in position and vacant posts is 17,509 and 5,135, respectively," he instructed Lok Sabha right through the Question Hour.
The Minister stated that time has come for putting in all- India judicial services and products and the examinations may also be performed by means of the U.S..
While making it clear that such services and products would no longer encroach on the powers of the states, Prasad stated discussions are going on the factor.
The selection and appointment of judges in subordinate courts is the duty of the top courts and state governments involved.
The executive has been pitching for introduction of an all- India judicial services and products to appoint folks in lower judiciary.
In August 2018, the minister wrote to all Chief Justices of top courtroom to observe the status of vacancies incessantly and make sure proper coordination with the state Public Service Commission to replenish vacant posts, as according to a written answer.
The minister also stated that time has come for setting up National Judicial Commission in all seriousness.
