TN: Secretariat assn's, others' strike on Jan 30

CHENNAI: Even as Joint Action Council of Tamil Nadu Teachers’ Organizations and Government Employees’ Organizations (Jactto-Geo), the ideally suited body of government staff, intensifying the protests and government refusing to budge, six registered unions, together with Tamil Nadu Secretariat Officers’ Association on Monday announced a token strike on January 30, nearly becoming a member of their opposite numbers.


The associations demanded that the federal government scrap the brand new contributing pension scheme being applied to those who joined the carrier after 2003 and revert to old scheme, free up of pending dues of the seventh pay fee from the notional date of implementation and revoke government order that constituted staff rationalisation committee set as much as overview the staff construction in more than a few departments and determine non-essential posts in an effort to reduce the earnings expenditure.


In a letter addressed to leader minister Edappadi Ok Palaniswami, the office-bearers mentioned they were deeply anguished and stunned through the remark put out through Personnel and Administrative Reforms minister, D Jayakumar, rejecting outright the calls for. “We urge the executive minister to intrude and take motion on our three calls for and assessment the stand of the federal government… Early assembly should be held with the office-bearers, failing which even the recognized associations should hang steady protests,” the office-bearers mentioned.


Recalling the several rounds of talks with the federal government in the past, the office-bearers mentioned the associations were hopeful of government assembly the calls for after being assured of making an allowance for and implementing at an acceptable time. “The rejection of calls for has created a turmoil some of the staffs. It has also resulted in a situation for us to agitate,” the workplace bearers mentioned. They demanded that government free up the remanded staffs and withdraw the circumstances towards them.


The different signatories come with, Tamil Nadu Government Employees Union, Tamil Nadu Arasu Aluvalar Kazhagam (C&D Group), Tamil Nadu Office Assistants and Basic Servants State Central Association, Tamil Nadu Government Departments Drivers Central Association, Tamil Nadu Government Secretariat Drivers Association. Earlier, Tamil Nadu Secretariat Association held a gathering on the premises of Fort St George and extended cohesion to the striking opposite numbers.
