Trio ferrying buffalo carcasses attacked

Ghaziabad: A contractor permitted by the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation to put off animal carcasses and two of his employees were attacked on Monday night by suspected cow vigilantes who accused them of slaughtering cows. Two of the contractor’s employees suffered injuries to the head and legs throughout the attack on them on Vijay Nagar.
The contractor’s car and a pick-up van sporting 10-15 buffalo carcasses were damaged. Police are but to make any arrests.

The contractor, Mahesh Kumar, mentioned he had been doing away with animal carcasses for the past 25 years, but “the placement has never been this dangerous”. He mentioned the two employees had since refused to work for him as they feared for his or her lives. Mahesh mentioned the mob was once shouting slogans and may have lynched them had a police workforce no longer arrived. The incident comes weeks after a an identical attack by alleged cow vigilantes had killed a police officer in Bulandshahr. Such is the palpable fear among people transporting farm animals that a retired BSNL respectable had lately sought police coverage to ferry two cows that he owned to his homeland.

An FIR has been registered against a Behrampur resident believed to have led the mob on Monday, Pradeep Kumar Sain, and 25-30 unidentified individuals for rioting and assaulting people.


Mahesh mentioned he and his relative, Mahendra Kumar, had permission from the local civic frame to raise animal carcasses and dispose them of in a plant in Sajwan Nagar. “We get licences for five years. The last time it was once renewed was once in 2016. On Monday night time, my employee Mursaleen and I were in a car while two others, Raju and Bhagwan Das, were in the pick-van sporting 10-15 buffalo carcasses. The mob was once already outside the plant and raising slogans once we reached there,” he mentioned. “They pounced on us as soon as we reached the spot. Mursaleen and I were in a position to seek out duvet, but the other two weren't that lucky. People in the mob were brandishing wooden sticks, rods and country-made pistols and thrashed them mercilessly,” Mahesh added.


The contractor and his employees mentioned they were making plans to switch career. “It is more and more becoming difficult for us to hold on like this. We will have to search for other jobs if attacks equivalent to this continue,” he mentioned.


Sub-inspector Dhruv Narayan Singh, who's investigating the case, mentioned the attack was once geared toward flaring up communal pressure in the area. “Pradeep and his aides are but to be arrested,” he added.
