Coimbatore: Two-wheeler riders passing through Mettupalayam Road on Monday have been stunned to see Yama, the lord of demise, berating those that had not worn helmet. But his minions dispensed candies and congratulatory notes to those who had the headgear in place.

They have been the students of Ganga Institute of Health Sciences, urging motorists to apply highway protection laws, as part of a highway protection marketing campaign introduced by Uyir folks’s movement in opposition to highway accidents at seven main junctions between Chinthamani and Thudiyalur.


“While the lord of demise threatened the rule breakers with the worst, those that had worn helmets were given candies and memento. We hope that each one two-wheeler riders will get started wearing helmets at least to avoid being stopped by Yama and pulled up in public,” stated founder of Uyir S Rajasekaran.


The highway protection marketing campaign, inaugurated by police commissioner Sumit Charan, can be on until Wednesday. “We discovered that while 70% of the riders wore helmets, they had not strap it under the chin. Without the strap in place, the helmet is needless. World over, folks know that they've to forestall when they see a yellow mild.
