VARANASI: Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) here has manufactured a 12,000-HP electric locomotive via combining two diesel locos, a primary of its kind on the earth. The feat comes soon after the premier manufacturing company successfully created history not too long ago via changing two previous diesel locomotives right into a 10,000 HP electric locomotive.


DLW spokesperson on Monday claimed that the newly transformed high-horse energy engine, first of its kind on the earth, has been despatched to the Tughlakabad electric loco shed for checking out.


“This freight engine has been designed for 105-km/hour speed and weighs 252 lots. It is equipped with three-phase induction motor, 4 energy convertors and regenerative as well as pneumatic braking device,” mentioned chief public members of the family officer of DLW Nitin Mehrotra.


He added that two WDG-Four (diesel) locomotives of 4000 HP were combined and transformed into one 12,000 HP WAG-11electric engine.


According to him, the DLW achieved this difficult feat with the assistance of engineers from Research Designs and Standards Organisation and Chiitaranjan Locomotive Works.
