CHENNAI: Fourteen transgender folks on Tuesday gained allotment orders to occupy gadgets in tenements built through the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board (TNSCB) on a rental basis at Okkiyam Thoraipakkam.
A press unlock said 255 transgender folks were allotted new tenements on a rental basis out of the total 2,048 gadgets built below the Tsunami Rehabilitation Programme at Okkiyam Thoraipakkam.
The department of housing and urban development issued an order in this regard in December closing 12 months. Each unit can have a drawing room, kitchen, toilet, but even so consuming water and electricity facilities.
Deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam issued the allotment orders to 14 transgenders on Tuesday. Senior officers from the housing and urban development department and TNSCB have been also present on the occasion.
