22-year-old woman kidnapped for marrying lover

COIMBATORE: Police have introduced a seek for a 22-year-old girl, who used to be abducted via her circle of relatives on Saturday after she married a man she used to be in love with.
Police recognized her as S Suganya, a local of Erode district. “She used to be in love with 23-year-old S Sathish Kumar, a local of Senjeripudur in Coimbatore. Sathish, who used to be operating in Erode, used to be later transferred to Udumalapet. But the fanatics persisted to meet. Suganya’s neighbours, who saw the couple together, informed her oldsters. As her oldsters, who belonged to an ‘higher caste’, have been against the relationship, the fanatics registered their marriage on February 17. They have been staying in Sathish’s space,” a police officer said.

The girl’s relations visited the home on Saturday. “Her father Sennimalai, 55, mom Vijayakumari, 59, and brother S Ragupathy, 27, met her and asked her to head with them. When she refused, they picked up a quarrel with Sathish and attacked him. The trio dragged Suganya from the home and left the place,” the officer told TOI.

Sathish, who used to be significantly injured, approached the Negamam police and registered a grievance. He used to be later admitted within the Pollachi Government Hospital.

Police have registered a kidnap case against Suganya’s circle of relatives and are investigating. They have shaped a special group to find her.

“During the preliminary investigation, it used to be revealed that the woman belonged to a ‘dominant caste’ and her husband belongs to a different caste. Her oldsters have been against her marrying the man. They were asking for her to return to them and as she refused, they could have abducted her,” the officer added.
