NEW DELHI: Amid proceeding threat from its rebels in Karnataka, Congress on Saturday educated its guns at the BJP leadership, alleging it was once at the back of an operation to lure the MLAs to carry down the Kumaraswamy govt.

Playing an audio tape through which the dialog revolves around luring a JD (S) MLA with an be offering of Rs 10 crore, Congress alleged the caller was once Karnataka BJP chief BS Yeddyurappa. The tape apparently has references to courts and was once made public through CM HD Kumaraswamy on Friday.

Congress basic secretary in-charge KC Venugopal said that PM Modi and Amit Shah had been "orchestrating" the campaign to topple the JD(S)-Congress govt. "The state government is being destabilised by the national government," Venugopal alleged.

The birthday party said the CJI should take cognisance of claims in the tape that prime BJP leaders can "manage the judiciary". "Since Yeddyurappa is (purportedly) heard saying that Amit Shah will manage judges, the CJI should take suo motu cognisance of attempts to defame judiciary," AICC spokesman Randeep Surjewala said.
