GUWAHATI: Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday offered a Rs 1,193.04-crore deficit price range for 2019-20, introducing a number of new schemes together with rice at Rs 1 in step with kilogram for the poor, 1 tola (10 gram) gold to the brides, amongst others.

"A subsidy of Rs 700 per student per month to be paid for 10 months in a year, irrespective of their economic status, on the mess bills, for those students staying in the hostels of government, or provincialised colleges and universities," the minister stated, including the government can even provide battery operated 'e-bikes' to all woman scholars who safe 1st division or above in their upper secondary examinations.
"The government has decided to provide rice free of cost to 4 lakh families in the tea garden areas and 2 kg of sugar per month to the families of the tea garden workers," he stated, including that the government is launching a brand new scheme beneath which any girl, as much as the age of 45 years, who loses her husband, will obtain an amount of Rs 25,000 as 'Immediate Family Assistance'.
