SURAT: BJP councillor of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) Jayanti Bhanderi used to be caught accepting Rs 50,000 bribe in Singanpore house on Wednesday.
Bhanderi, who is also vice-chairman of SMC’s drainage committee, had demanded the cash from a health care provider to permit him to run his health facility in a residential locality. The complainant contacted Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on 1064 quantity and sought help. The physician runs the health facility at the floor flooring of this place of abode.
ACB sleuths caught Bhanderi near Vir Meghmaya Circle and recovered the bribe money from him.
In his grievance, the physician alleged that Bhanderi, who is the municipal councillor from ward 8 (Dabholi Singanpore), demanded money for not taking motion. Bhanderi allegedly demanded bribe by threatening to get the shutter of his health facility got rid of.
