COIMBATORE: Impressed by its higher amenities, swanky and colourful interiors and extra flight services, passengers have given the thumbs as much as the town airport in a survey performed by the Airports Council International (ACI) in 2018, helping it achieve considerable soar in a high quality ranking.
The ACI-ASQ (airport services quality) survey performed amongst 20 AAI airports confirmed the town’s rating soar by 53 puts in 2018. While the airport was once ranked 125 in 2017, it jumped to 72 in 2018. In quality ranking too, it managed to succeed in a ranking of 4.59 issues out of five, a zero.three soar from 4.29 issues in 2017. The survey measures the standard of services supplied by airports.
“The airport looks much better relating to being extra brightly lit up, permits on-line check-in and has a handy guide a rough safety check-up device,” said Hari Lakshman, a businessman and frequent traveller. Many people from the disabled neighborhood too welcomed the airport’s transfer to obtain extra aerobridges, making it easier for them to get on flights.
Many regular travellers were impressed with the addition in meals and beverage counters, including restaurants, bars and lounges, giving passengers extra options to spend time. “The airport now looks extra arranged, offers passengers extra options referring to meals, has a couple of noteworthy shopping options and its higher inside is helping too,” businessman and frequent traveller D Nandhakumar said.
However, the town airport has ignored attaining the “superb” ranking — 4.75 issues — set by the ministry of civil aviation by 0.16 issues. Besides, a few of the 20 rated airports, Coimbatore stood at 15. While it has fared higher than small airports like Jaipur, Vizag and Patna, it has fallen behind different tier-II airports like Mangalore (4.87), Trivandrum (4.86), Calicut (4.74) and Varanasi (4.77).
Airport authorities said steps were being taken to add extra amenities within the ready area, scale back time taken for bags screening and safety tests and procure extra aerobridges.
