City Centre case: Orders on Saini’s plea reserved

LUDHIANA: A neighborhood courtroom on Thursday reserved orders on a plea of former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini within the City Centre case, by which chief minister Amarinder Singh is among the accused. The next date of hearing of the case within the courtroom of sessions pass judgement on Gurbir Singh is on February 21.

On November 28, ultimate year, Saini had filed a petition within the courtroom towards the closure document filed by the vigilance within the City Centre case. The petitioner submitted to the courtroom that he was once in possession of a few “delicate subject matter”, which he wanted to publish in courtroom in a sealed envelope. He had submitted that since it was once on his orders, as director vigilance, that SSP VB Ludhiana had filed an FIR within the topic in 2007, he will have to be heard once.

On Thursday, the arguments on the former DGP’s utility have been concluded. Reacting to the argument of the prosecution that former DGP had no locus standi within the case, Ramanpreet Singh Sandhu, suggest for the previous DGP, argued that the cancellation document by vigilance department is unlawful. He further argued that time and again they had been transferring stand.


The suggest for Saini argued that while recording statements of even highly educated persons the vigilance had taken thumb impressions, which makes it highly questionable. He further argued that the remark of senior engineer Rameshwar Dutt Awasthy, who was once then operating with Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT), was once taken and then he implemented his left thumb influence as evidence.


“Awasthy giving his left thumb influence on his remark is a significant factor. The elegance I officer retired as an engineer and striking a thumb mark on a remark shows that the report is fabricated,” Saini’s suggest argued within the courtroom. He added that, “It has additionally been discussed that an government magistrate and a health care provider went to Rameshwar’s space to report his remark as he was once ill even as there is no such provision below CrPC to ship a magistrate and a health care provider to a witness’s place.”


“Why the witness (Awasthi) was once given VIP remedy? Is it since the chief minister is concerned in this case?” Counsel for Saini argued within the courtroom.
