BATHINDA: The agriculture scientists have stressed out the want to lower meals wastage which is impacting the meals production in the country as extra wastage of meals increase burden on production. The scientists have also stressed out the need for innovation to increase the stagnated agricultural production. The need was once also felt to procedure the meals products to complement the farm income. The factors had been deliberated upon at the inaugural session of the three-day national-level convention on ‘meals safety, nutrition and sustainable agriculture-emerging techniques’ organised via Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology(IIFPT) at Baba Farid Group of Institutions, Bathinda.


It was once stressed out that to nourish the burgeoning human population much more effort and innovation is urgently needed to sustainably increase agricultural production, fortify the global supply chain, lower meals losses and make certain that all who suffering from hunger and malnutrition have get right of entry to to nutritious meals. The agriculture is confronted with numerous problems including fast depleting natural sources like underground water table, declining enlargement in productiveness, narrow genetic base and emergence of new biotic stress. In view of the restricted useful resource base, designing new methods, a paradigm shift and holistic manner are necessary parameters to maintain agricultural enlargement for achieving a lot wanted meals and nutritional safety.


Former scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre(BARC) Sharad P Kale stressed out the need for stopping wastage of meals and water conservation. He mentioned there's dire need of preservation of meals and feed those that are deprived. We want to invent disease resistant kinds of meals grains.


Food Industry Capacity and Skill Initiative (FICSI) chief govt officer Sunil K Marwah mentioned despite the fact that, India is second largest producer of meals grains after China yet there are many roadblocks in the way of enlargement in agriculture which want to triumph over. He added that presently agriculture in the country is taking extra from setting than giving back which also want to be reversed as it is highly impacting the local weather change which in any case affects the standard of meals grains.


Agriculture scientist at Punjab Agriculture University, DS Brar, mentioned along side increase in production there's dire want to increase nutritional values in meals grains.


Chief Patron of the convention, Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, mentioned that the purpose of the convention is to speak about the issues confronting the agricultural sector and the farmers, researchers and scientists in agriculture sector want to look for the answers.
