Elephant found dead near in Contour canal near Tirupur

The carcass of the elephant from Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) was once discovered floating in the Contour canal, which drains into the reservoir.

“We think that the elephant could have slipped into Contour canal while drinking water and sustained injuries on its head and died. It may well be confirmed after postmortem,” mentioned a senior forest respectable.

The discovery of the carcass has diverted attention of the Udumalpet range forest staff who were busy in the past few days tracking crop-raiding elephant Chinna Thambi, which was once roaming in Madathukulam area close to Udumalpet.
