THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Malayalam poet-lyricist Ezhacherry Ramachandran has received the Pala Ok M Mathew award of 2018 instituted through the State Institute of Children’s Literature. His poetry assortment ‘Anguli Malan’ fetched him the award.
Writers G R Indugopan, Vinod Vaisakhi, Ajith Prabhu, B Iqbal, Thumboor Lohithakshan, D Paani, Sreekala Chingeli, V Saji and DC Books, Kottayam are the recipients of the individual awards. Pala Ok M award incorporates of Rs 60,001 cash prize, memento and certificates. The other 9 awards for kids’s literature every incorporates a cash prize of Rs 20,000, memento and certificates.
Speaking to the reporters right here on Monday, institute director Palliyara Sreedharan said, “Books which have been launched within the ultimate 3 years were thought to be for the awards. No award was introduced for the comedian class as there were no deserving entries,” he said.
G R Indugopan’s ‘The Last Bhootham’ received the award for novel class. Vinod Vaisakhi’s poem ‘Olapookal’ for poetry, Ajith Prabhu’s ‘Vilakkum Vijnaanavum’ for science, B Iqbal’s ‘Pusthakasanji’ for teachers, Thumboor Lohithakshan’s ‘A story from 1857’ for translation, D Pani’s ‘Rangakeli’ for drama, Sreekala Chingeli’s ‘Chembe Vaidhyanaadh Bhagavathar’ for biography and V Saji’s ‘Appukuttanum Katturumbum’ received the award for illustration. DC Books’s e-newsletter ‘Neelakurukkan’ bagged the award for production.
