Kurukshetra kidnap case: 2 held, 5 still absconding

AMBALA: On Sunday, the Naraingarh crime investigation company (CIA) has claimed to have solved a kidnapping case of Vikram, 28, a resident village Baraut in Kurukshetra, with arrests of Amit, a resident of village Tangaur and Saurabh, a resident of village Bibipur, both in Kurukshetra district.

On Friday, Vikram used to be abducted close to Nau Gaja Peer, at the outskirts of village Rajpura on national freeway (NH) 73 between Shahzadpur and Saha in Ambala.

Naraingarh CIA inspector in-charge Kewal Singh told TOI, "On Monday, both the arrested accused were presented before the court, which has remanded them under police custody for two days. The arms and vehicles used in kidnapping will be recovered and the arrests of nearly five other identified accused are pending."

On February 22, at 7.09pm, at the criticism of Man Singh, a resident of village Bharapur, a case related to the abduction of Vikram used to be registered below sections 148, 149, 323, 364 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Shahzadpur police station.

Man Singh mentioned, "I have my brick kiln in Shahzadpur. On February 22, I, my friends Vikram and Sandeep, were going to Saha for some work at the bank. We stopped enroute on NH73, near village Rajpura at Nau Gaja Peer, to pay obeisance. Suddenly, seven to eight men in two cars arrived there -some of them had their faces covered - asking about Vikram. They started assaulting us with sticks and iron rods, but Vikram managed to escape. The men chased Vikram and kidnapped him in one of the cars. The kidnapper later called on Sandeep's mobile and demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore."

Naraingarh deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Amit Bhatia said, "On February 23, Vikram was recovered safely from Shahbad and two arrests have been made in this case. Facing continuous pressure and surveillance, the kidnappers felt trapped and dropped Vikram in Shahbad after threatening him. On the orders of Ambala SP Mohit Handa, two teams of Naraingarh CIA and Ambala CIA-1 were deployed to chase the culprits and nab them."

Interestingly, on February 22 at eight.20pm, the arrested accused Saurabh had lodged a criticism with Shahzadpur police, which registered some other case below sections 392 and 394 of the IPC, after he alleged that his car used to be carjacked by some unknown men.
