MahaMetro coach factory needs Rs 1,300 crore

NAGPUR: MahaMetro’s marketing consultant Tooltech Global Engineering has submitted the detailed venture document (DPR) for the proposed trainer manufacturing plant at Sindi dry port (district Wardha). The DPR states that if the full fledged plant is to be commissioned it will entail an funding of Rs1,300 crore and generate 1,350 direct jobs.

This DPR can be submitted to board of administrators of MahaMetro, then to the state govt and in spite of everything the central govt. The state and the central governments will make investments money in it at the side of a personal spouse.

The DPR envisages construction of the plant in three phases. In the first segment, coaches would be produced by the private spouse while its final meeting, commissioning and trying out will happen at the plant. In the second segment, many of the portions would be supplied by the spouse while they're going to be welded within the plant. The trainer would be painted too. In the 3rd segment, the trainer would be totally produced within the workshop.

The first segment entails an funding of Rs440 crore, 2d Rs380 crore and 3rd Rs480 crore. The first segment would supply jobs to 200 folks, 2d 400 and 3rd 750. Out of the 200 jobs within the first segment, 70 would be blue collared while 130 would be white collared.

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), which is development the Sindi dry port, has agreed to allot 50 acres to MahaMetro for the plant. Of this, 30 acre is needed for the manufacturing unit while 20 acre is to kept aside for long term enlargement. Some land will have to be got for development a railway siding from the plant to the Nagpur-Wardha railway line.

The general built space of the full plant can be over 55,000 sq. metres. The first segment can be around 30,000 sq., 2d 11,000 sq. and 3rd 10,500 sq.. The totally commissioned would have an electrical load of 4.5MW.


Tooltech has wired that there is a scope for any other Metro trainer manufacturing unit within the nation. There are 30 towns where Metros are being expanded, beneath construction or are being deliberate. Between 2018 and 2023, they would wish 3,300 coaches. Another 1,937 coaches would be needed for the 26 upcoming tasks.


There had been 53 towns with population of over 10 lakh in 2011 in India. This quantity is expected to head as much as 85. The central govt has made up our minds to build Metros is all towns having population of over 10 lakh.
