COIMBATORE: The Podanur police on Sunday arrested a minor boy, who stabbed a 20-year-old college scholar to death using a damaged beer bottle following a petty quarrel at Vittal Nagar.
The deceased was once identified as Okay Vishnu of Vittal Nagar in Podanur. He was once a II-year BBA scholar in a private college, police assets mentioned. “Vishnu and 4 pals, together with the minor, had been consuming liquor on an open flooring at Vittal Nagar on Saturday evening. The boy had completed elegance X and was once working in a lathe workshop. Vishnu, who was once in an inebriated condition, asked the boy to call him anna (elder brother). But the boy refused and known as him his name. Feeling disrespected, Vishnu attacked the boy, who fell at the flooring. The boy picked up a damaged beer bottle and stabbed Vishnu within the throat,” a police officer mentioned.
Seeing Vishnu struggling for life, his pals, together with the boy, rushed him to a private clinic at Sundarapuram and instructed medical doctors instructed he had met with an twist of fate. The medical doctors checked Vishnu and instructed the youths to take him to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).
“The pals took Vishnu, who was once bleeding profusely, to CMCH. But he died with out responding to treatment on Sunday morning. The medical doctors informed the traffic investigation wing (TIW) of town police, who reached the clinic and noticed the harm at the throat. The TIW police alerted Podanur (law&order) police inspector JK Gobi, who visited the clinic and held inquiry with the four. The minor boy confessed to the crime,” the officer instructed TOI.
Podanur police registered a case against the minor under Section 302 (homicide) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him on Sunday night. He will be lodged within the juvenile home on Avinashi Road on Monday morning.
