VISAKHAPATNAM: Indian Railway officer and international weightlifting champion Saikhom Mirabai Chanu on Monday announced that she could be promoting the Railways' security helpline number 182 as a part of her efforts to safeguard the welfare of ladies and reinforce security in the railways.

The Padmashri awardee, who was once in the city after winning the gold medal in the 49kg girls’s tournament at the ongoing 71st Men and 34th Women Senior National Weightlifting championship, said that as a railway officer it was once her responsibility to advertise railway security number 182, which in particular deals with girls security problems.




Waltair divisional railway manager MS Mathur said that it was once an honour to Visakhapatnam city where she took such humble choice of promoting the railway security problems around the globe.


Railway Protection Force senior divisional security commissioner Jitendra Srivastava said that advert movies and posters could be made with Chanu and circulated at the entire platforms and trains.
