"We recovered 53 batteries from the accused and two routers," stated an officer. "By cutting the CCTV cameras' wire, the accused thought they could not be identified. However, their faces had been captured before the line was cut, and it helped in identifying the accused and tracing them," he added.
During interrogation, the accused admitted they'd way an ATM kiosk in a pace, posing as staff of the bank, sooner than leaving with the working batteries.
"We are going to write to the Panvel and Thane police to look out for such cases registered with them so that we can find out the roles of these accused. We are now trying to find out where they would sell these stolen batteries," added the officer.
