Nagpur getting recognized as ‘Happy City’: Mayor

Nagpur: Mayor Nanda Jichkar said Nagpur has were given various names like Smart City, green town, tiger capital etc for some or the other explanation why. She said the city is beginning to be identified as a ‘Happy City’ because of regular cultural occasions being held here.
Jichkar was once speaking at the inauguration of Mayor’s Cup All India Dance Competition arranged by way of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) at Suresh Bhat Hall on Saturday.

Jichkar had inaugurated Happy Streets arranged by way of The Times of India and Maharashtra Times.


Jichkar also said Nagpur is getting developed as a global town. “A slew of developmental tasks were sanctioned by way of CM Devendra Fadnavis and Union minister Nitin Gadkari. Therefore, the city is changing. The construction of Suresh Bhat Hall, with the assistance of Fadnavis and Gadkari, is encouraging cultural occasions,” she said.


Chairman of NMC sports consultative committee Nagesh Sahare, corporators and other officers were present.


Prizes shall be disbursed to the winners in a programme arranged on Sunday. The pageant has been arranged in three categories — 5 to 10 years, 10 to 15 years and above 15 years.
