OBC morcha: Protesters march to Azad Maidan

MUMBAI: To put power at the state government to safeguard their percentage of quota, contributors of the opposite backward class (OBC) and tribal communities marched down from Byculla to Azad Maidan on Monday. One of the primary calls for of the protesters is that the federal government should not induct Marathas into the OBC category.

Dhangar chief Prakash Shendge, one of the organisers, said they don't have police permission for the march but they're still going ahead with it.

The rally, which is being referred to as Elgar Morcha started at 10.30am, is more likely to impact site visitors motion in opposition to south Mumbai as it's first day of the week.


Also, HSC’s secretarial follow and physics tests are being carried out as in step with the schedule. Maharashtra state board officials said handiest two scholars weren't allowed to look for the HSC exam on Monday as they reached their centres late. They have been, however, not not on time as a result of the protests.



However, not one of the examination centres at the morcha direction had issued any advisory till Sunday night. Around 1.4 lakh HSC scholars are appearing for the secretarial follow paper and 89,431 will take the physics paper within the Mumbai division that consists of Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad.




In view of the protest, police staff in south and central Mumbai can be at the alert. Local police stations can be given maximum manpower, said a supply. “Cops in mufti from the particular department and city police’s intelligence wing may also be on roads collecting knowledge and passing it on to their colleagues. Additional police force can be summoned from the nearby police stations, if required,” the supply added. Members of over 250 castes underneath the OBC category and of 58 Vimukta Jati (denotified tribes) and Nomadic Tribes (VJNT) will join the protest. Monday may be the primary day of the finances session.
