JAIPUR: Increased safety and patrolling on the border spaces in Rajasthan have followed the IAF moves on terror camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Tuesday.
According to a Jaisalmer district administration order, nobody will be allowed inside of 5-km from the world border from 6 pm to 7am. Although officials claimed it was a routine procedure, this restriction was supposed to end on February 25 but has now been extended until first week of April.
Calling it a routine procedure, Namit Mehta, DM, Jaisalmer mentioned,"we always have such restrictions in place since we are on the international border. The restriction was supposed to end on Monday but due to certain reasons has been extended till April."
However, resources declare that since the Pulwama attack on February 14, border cities had been on top alert with increased patrolling within the space. Rajasthan stocks a 1,048 km-long world border with Pakistan which incorporates Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar.
"Airbases in Rajasthan had been wearing out routine recce sorties and are prepared for any eventuality. Same is the case with the various regiments especially the ones within the border districts.
Rajasthan is strategically crucial for any conflict-like state of affairs with the neighbouring nation and even the native police in addition to the paramilitary forces deployed listed below are operating in coordination. Security of the such institutions has additionally been enhanced", mentioned an army official on condition of anonymity. Section 144 has been imposed in Sri Ganganagar by means of the district collector and nobody will be allowed inside of 2 kilometres of the world border from 7 pm to six am. The restriction has been imposed in spaces like Karanpur, Raisingh Nagar, Anupgarh and others in Sri Ganganagar district.
"In border districts, Section 144 is imposed every two months and though this order was issued earlier, today the officials were reminded of it. We have asked them to be on alert and be vigilant about any untoward incidents like if anyone is doing recce of the areas or asking suspicious questions. If anyone comes across such incidents, then the security agencies need to be informed immediately", mentioned N Shiv Prasad, district collector, Sri Ganganagar.
