SVNIT cancels music fest to pay homage to CRPF martyrs

Surat: Students of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) have cancelled the annual cultural competition Sparsh as a mark of respect to over 40 CRPF staff who attained martyrdom in a fear assault on their convoy in Jammu & Kashmir a few days ago.
An amount of Rs20 lakh raised via them for the four-night competition shall be donated to the households of the CRPF martyrs. The competition was scheduled from February 21 to 24.

Top celebrities are roped in via the students to accomplish live in Sparsh at the campus of the institute. Many leading singers and groups have carried out on the institute in the past and the development is popular even among people from outside the campus, who come to enjoy singing, dancing, DJ and famous person nights. “Singer Jubin Nautiyal was to accomplish this time. His display has been cancelled after students and institute authorities dropped the development altogether,” a school mentioned.


“A cheque has already been ready. The cash can be deposited in Bharat ke Veer Fund. We will cling other events rather than the musical competition to honour the martyrdom of our squaddies,” mentioned V S Pradhan, dean, students’ welfare, SVNIT.


SVNIT students held a candlelight march- Amar Jawan Jyot Yatra- from SVNIT to Rahul Raj Mall on Saturday. The students paid tributes to squaddies thru an match ‘Veero ko naman’ on Sunday. They carried out on patriotic songs.


“We students also sought after to do something for many who sacrificed their lives for our country. We made up our minds to not have a good time the development for the reason that country is in grief,” a student mentioned.
