KOLKATA/HOWRAH/TEHATTA: The our bodies of 2 jawans from Bengal who misplaced their lives within the Pulwama suicide attack on Thursday landed at Kolkata airport on Saturday afternoon. As the state’s political leaders made a beeline to pay their respects, the widow of one of the slain squaddies made a plea to keep the sacrifice of her husband and other jawans above politics.
“The jawans have made without equal sacrifice for the rustic. Let everybody pay their respects to them. But there must not be any politics over their deaths,” said Mita, wife of slain soldier Bablu Santra, as she waited for her husband’s body at their Chok Kashipur house in Howrah’s Bauria. Too younger to grasp what was happening, Santra’s sixyear-old daughter Piyal asked a relative why her mom was crying. Her grand-aunt Bhagawati Devi then took Piyal to the coffin and made her contact it along with her brow. Bhagawati later said, “I didn't need to provide an explanation for what has took place to this type of younger girl. I simply made her contact her head to her father’s coffin. I'm hoping it's going to be a supply of peace for him.”
Waiting within the Santras’ neighbourhood had been ministers Arup Ray, BJP leader Rahul Sinha and other political leaders. Babul Supriyo was within the coffin’s convoy to the Santra house.
