Tourism sector welcomes proposal to run double-decker buses

Mysuru: Buoyed through the good fortune of the ‘Open Bus’ rides introduced within the Heritage City to visitors throughout Dasara celebrations as another appeal, the state govt has now made up our minds to ply double-decker buses in Mysuru. In all, chief minister HD Kumaraswamy allotted Rs five crore within the price range he tabled on Friday for procurement of six double-decker buses – four of that are for Mysuru, and two for Hampi.
Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) introduced Open Buses throughout the ‘Naada Habba’ to give vacationers a possibility to drink within the many architectural marvels dotting the cityscape while in transit. Now, the double-decker buses, modeled alongside the red buses that ply on the streets of London, will likely be an added vacationer appeal.

KSTDC managing director Kumar Pushkar advised IdealNews that the fleet of six double-decker buses could be ready to function in time for Dasara. “We are making plans on rolling them out for the Dasara celebrations, and are hoping for a favorable reaction from the visitors.”


Pushkar mentioned that KSTDC was once proud of the reaction among locals and visitors alike to the Open Bus. “Seats on the bus had been booked two days prematurely. It was once the good fortune of that challenge that precipitated KSTDC to push the federal government to propose double-decker buses,” he added.


Stakeholders within the tourism sector in Mysuru are delighted with the CM’s proposal, and are satisfied that the buses will likely be an added appeal on the vacationer itinerary when they discuss with the Heritage City.
