Typhoid in Kuchugudde: Villagers blame panchayat for contaminated water

Mangaluru: As many as 12 people in Kuchugudde village in Gurupura gram panchayat in Mangaluru taluk have been hospitalised because of typhoid prior to now 45 days.

Following this, officers from the well being division visited the village and created awareness amongst citizens to take precautions against the illness. According to sources, there are just about 40 properties in Kachugudde the place people aren't getting water for drinking and other functions. A water tank within the area has not been maintained neatly, and it has not been covered properly. Villagers say that people are compelled to use contaminated water as there is no filtering process to be had. They say that this could be the cause of the spread of the illness within the area.

“We have submitted court cases to the gram panchayat officers several times. However, they didn't soak up projects to supply potable drinking water and other infrastructure,” a villager alleged.

Meanwhile, officers of the well being division visited the village on Thursday and directed officers of the gram panchayat to take precautions. They directed the gram panchayat to stay water sources blank and emphasized that water be supplied after right kind filtering is done.

SDPI Addooru unit participants visited the village and picked up details from villagers. SDPI unit president A K Musthafa mentioned people within the village are offended with the improvement. “Residents are clueless as to who will to find solutions to their issues. They are unsatisfied with the gram panchayat because it has not taken measures to resolve their issues,” he added.
