RAJKOT: Two circumstances of blackmailing, through which 5 individuals had been robbed of Rs 1.44 lakh money and valuables including mobile phones and jewellery, had been registered in Rajkot city and Vanthali of Junagadh district on Thursday evening.
In Bhagwatipara locality on Morbi Road of Rajkot, complainant Kaushik Paladia (27), a resident of Mahendranagar locality in Morbi, alleged that he and his good friend Viral Rajput had been robbed of cash, mobile phone and a gold chain, all price Rs 96,000, through four accused who integrated two women.
Paladia told the police officers that a woman who recognized herself as Najma had advanced friendship with him after she called him through mistake over telephone, six months ago.
Police said that Paladia, a widower, sought after to remarry, for which he had sought Najma’s assist to find him a soul-mate. On March 19, Najma called Paladia and told him that she had found an appropriate woman for marriage with him and called him from Morbi to Rajkot.
Paladia and Rajput drove to Rajkot in their automobile. At the toll booth on Morbi Road, a girl whom Najma had recognized as Dharti met them and sat within the automobile. After this, Paladia drove the automobile to the Aji river bank in Bhagwatipara locality as directed through Dharti.
“While Paladia parked his automobile and started the conversation, two scooter-borne unidentified men arrived and dragged out both Paladia and Rajput and thrashed them. They threatened to book them in a rape and molestation case and asked for Rs 1.50 lakh. As they didn’t afford, the accused robbed them of Rs 8,000 money, two mobile phones and one gold chain, prior to fleeing from the spot,” said an respectable from B department police station.
