MANGALURU: Avil D’Souza, 56, who hails from Padpu Adam Kudru near Jappinamogaru and lately staying in Kumpala near Thokkottu, was once arrested after nearly 4 decades in an attempt-to-murder case.
A senior Mangaluru town police reputable stated that right through the 1980s, there was once rampant manufacturing of illicit liquor in Adam Kudru and adjacent puts. This used to hit the trade of authorized liquor manufacturers in the district and to curb this threat, they would habits raids on these puts. In one such raid in 1980, Avil had allegedly assaulted Ganesh Shetty. A case was once booked against him at Mangaluru Rural police station.
Soon after the case was once registered, Avil fled to a Gulf country for work and have been absconding ever since. He did not attend any courtroom proceedings and a warrant have been issued against him.
Anti-Rowdy Squad workforce, below the supervision of Mangaluru South sub-division ACP Rama Rao, arrested Avil on Thursday. After quitting work in a foreign country, Avil had settled down together with his circle of relatives in Kumpala. He has been sent to judicial custody.
So some distance, South sub-division police have arrested five individuals who have been absconding for greater than two decades with out attending courtroom proceedings.
