PATNA: An irate mob allegedly lynched one Soni Rajpal (28) at a village beneath the Khareek police station house in Bhagalpur district round 6pm on Sunday after he tried to outrage the modesty of a woman, police stated on Monday.
The family members of the lady caught dangle of Rajpal and attacked him with stones and bamboo sticks.
Some locals also joined the attackers, who were not in a temper to relent. Rajpal died at the spot. The body of Rajpal, whom police claimed had legal antecedents, was once dumped close to the panchayat bhavan at the outskirts of the village. Locals stated prior to getting into the home of the lady, Rajpal had also stressed different girls all the way through a non secular function on the village on Sunday.
Naugachhia superintendent of police Nidhi Rani stated 12 people had been made named accused at the remark of the deceased’s spouse Soni Devi. An FIR has also been lodged against 10-12 unidentified individuals, she stated, adding raids have been on to arrest the attackers.
Naugachhia SDPO Prevendra Bharti stated the deceased had legal antecedents. At least six cases beneath different sections of the IPC have been lodged against him on the Khareek police station by myself, he stated, adding Rajpal was once earlier arrested in a case lodged beneath Arms Act. One Ravan, a resident of Khareek village, had earlier opened hearth at Rajpal. However, he had then survived the attack.
The SDPO stated many of the named accused, who had legal antecedents, have been absconding after the incident. He, then again, described Sunday’s incident as fallout of competition between two households. Rajpal was once active within the house since 2014 and had allegedly demanded extortion money from locals, Bharti told this newspaper over the telephone from Naughachhia.
