CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu leader minister Edappadi Okay Palaniswami on Friday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for announcing that Chennai Central Station can be renamed after past due leader minister M G Ramachandran.
The leader minister stated the Prime Minister’s announcement was once a super honour and a befitting tribute to MGR.
“To the people of Tamil Nadu and to the Tamils internationally, Dr M G Ramachandran is still an inspirational determine, who is always remembered for his qualities of magnanimity, generosity, commanding management and determination to combat for the respectable rights of the states,” Palaniswami stated.
Modi made the announcement at an election rally in Kilambakkam near Chennai on March 6.
MGR was once honoured with the highest civilian award -- Bharat Ratna -- in 1988, posthumously, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to public service.
Palaniswami stated MGR was once a charismatic and fashionable leader minister and remembered nationally and the world over for launching several innovative welfare programmes which was fashions to be emulated throughout the rustic.
