CID seizes Rs 40L in pre-poll raid at Bhowanipore

KOLKATA: In a pressure against unaccounted-for money flow prior to the elections, the CID on Saturday seized Rs 40 lakh from Bhowanipore. The money belonged to a businessman from Baltikuri in Howrah, CID said.



“We had leads on money exchanging hands at Bhowanipore. We raided a couple of places on Saturday and performed the seizure. We believe this money was once intended to be used in the upcoming elections. We have shaped 11 groups to probe this link,” a senior officer said.
