Cyber crime units on alert to curb poll rumours

AHMEDABAD: Cyber crime devices of districts and towns around the state were directed to regulate cyberspace, particularly messaging packages, on which rumours are unfold.


The police are on alert ahead of the general election. A senior police official stated that social messaging packages are being utilized by components who wish to unfold rumours or faux information to disturb the regulation and order situation in the state.


During the 2017 state assembly election, many faux lists of candidates went viral and created chaos. “Even hate speeches are being uploaded on social media,” stated a senior police official. This year, an afternoon before the 2019 election agenda used to be introduced, a fake list of transfers of senior police officials went viral. A best police official connected with election duty stated that on-line mischief-makers will face strict felony motion.


A senior cyber cellular official stated separate teams shall be formed to observe social media. “One staff will monitor different social media platforms through open source and swing into motion if they arrive throughout objectionable material or material that violates the type code of behavior,” he stated.
