Diocese for rooting out cybercrime

Coimbatore: The CSI Coimbatore Diocese has urged for multipronged steps to eliminate cyber violence against girls and women.

In the backdrop of recent sexual assault incidents in Pollachi, the diocese arranged an awareness and confidence development tournament on cyber security and human rights within the city on Friday. About 400 men and women attended the development.

Addressing the development, Bishop Rev Timothy Ravinder drew the attention to existing deficiencies in combating cybercrime against women and urged the ladies to come out overtly after they face sexual harassment or abuse. Asking girls to broaden self-confidence, he mentioned they should use emergency numbers of police when they're in a danger state of affairs.

Police officials who participated within the tournament urged women to download the app 'kavalan.sos' for any form of emergency, whilst going on my own, specifically during night time. Within 10 minutes, police will arrive at the spot and rescue the individual in misery, police mentioned. TNN
