Ex-scribe, lawyer ‘extort’ guesthouse operator, held

GURUGRAM: A former journalist and a girl legal professional had been arrested for allegedly looking to extort a neighborhood guesthouse operator and her husband of crores through threatening to implicate them in a pretend rape case. The complainant claimed the duo, with the help of some other legal professional, demanded Rs four crore from them. The accused were despatched to judicial custody, while police are engaging in raids to nab an associate, who is at massive.


Complainant Pawan Dahiya, a resident of Dhanwapur village, advised police that his spouse Seema operates a guesthouse in DLF three. On February three, the woman legal professional, identified as Neelam Singh, booked a room until February 28. “She checked in and stayed for a few days, but left the room on February 23. Neelam got here back on March 9 and demanded her room back,” Pawan mentioned.


Neelam allegedly persisted to stay on the guesthouse, but paid no expenses. On Tuesday, Seema and Pawan advised her to vacate the room. Rashpal Singh, a former journalist with a reputed English daily who incessantly used to seek advice from Neelam, got here to the guesthouse and the duo allegedly started threatening the couple. “Instead of paying us, they requested for Rs four crore and threatened to report a rape case against me. They known as some other guy, Mukesh, who identified himself as a legal professional. Mukesh mentioned we should pay no less than Rs 50 lakh,” Pawan advised police.
