KATHMANDU: The Embassy of India in Kathmandu on Wednesday awarded 200 Golden Jubilee Scholarships to meritorious Nepali students for continuing their studies in more than a few undergraduate courses at different universities and colleges throughout Nepal for the educational 12 months 2018-19.
A statement launched by way of the Indian Embassy said that this 12 months, the scholarships recipients duvet 36 undergraduate courses, which come with MBBS, BDS, BE, BSc, BBA, and BCom courses.
Hailing from 50 districts throughout Nepal, the students include of around 45 per cent women and 8 per cent differently-abled students, the statement added.
Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Khaga Raj Baral, who changed into the manager visitor at the party held at the Hotel Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu, introduced the certificate of benefit to 200 students.
Ambassador of India to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri, who was once also present at the match, congratulated the students and prompt them to achieve private and professional achievement, contributing to the socio-economic development of Nepal and strengthening the India-Nepal family members.
In 2002, India started the prestigious Golden Jubilee Scholarship scheme to mark the crowning glory of 50 years of India-Nepal Economic Cooperation.
At the inception of this scheme, 50 meritorious Nepali students had been awarded the scholarships. In the 12 months 2007, the numbers of scholarships greater to 100. Since the 12 months 2012, the numbers of scholarships have been doubled to 200.
Under this scheme, an MBBS/BDS scholar receives Nepali Rupee (NRs.) 4000/- monthly for five years, a BE scholar receives NRs. 4000/- monthly for 4 years, and a scholar learning in other under-graduate courses receives NRs. 3000/- monthly for 3 years.
So excess of 2,350 Nepali students have been awarded the Golden Jubilee Scholarships from throughout 77 districts of Nepal, the Embassy said.
In go back to this, India, at the similar time, also supplies a total of about 3000 scholarships in medical, science, veterinary sciences, pharmacology, dental science, agriculture, engineering, arts, commerce, science, laptop science, nursing and many other disciplines to check in more than a few universities and colleges in Nepal as well as India.
These scholarships are part of India's efforts to improve human assets development at the side of the full socio-economic development of Nepal and its other folks.
