Karnataka: Transport department revokes Ola ban

BENGALURU: In a big aid to 1000's of passengers and drivers across the state, State Transport Authority (STA) meeting on Monday has made up our minds to withdraw its order suspending the licence of cab aggregator OIa for 6 months.


It has additionally made up our minds to impose a nice of Rs 15 lakh on Ola for operating motorbike taxis in violation of rules.


Ola in a commentary mentioned, "We are glad that the issue stands resolved and we regret any inconvenience caused to our driver-partners and passengers since Friday. We are committed to creating and enhancing livelihood opportunities for millions of driver-partners in the time to come."


It may be recalled that STA had issued a understand dated March 18 to ANI Technologies, which operates Ola cabs, suspending its cab aggregator licence for 6 months for running motorbike taxis in city. However, Ola persisted to operate its products and services including cars and autorickshaws in the city.


In Karnataka, Ola operates in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Ballari, Belagavi and Kalaburagi. Ola received the aggregator licence valid as much as June 19, 2021 from the department in 2016.
