Lawyer rips SI's uniform, attacks DMK man, booked

CHENNAI: Police have booked a lawyer working towards in Egmore metropolitan Justice of the Peace court in two cases, one for assaulting a village panchayat president affiliated to the DMK and every other for abusing and a sub-inspector of police in the court premises.

Police stated the booked lawyer, Gnanam, has had cases registered against him by way of the ICF police prior to now.


The motion used to be in line with a complaint by way of Okay Vaseegaran, 42, of Mangadu, who's the panchayat president of Gerugambakkam village.


Vaseegaran stated he visited the Egmore court to collect land documents he had submitted to bail out an individual named Mahesh, arrested in a dishonest case, a month in the past. Vaseegaran had employed lawyer Ilango to lend a hand him acquire the documents. Since Ilango used to be busy, he knowledgeable Vaseegaran to coordinate with Gnanam who would seem on his behalf.


In his complaint Vaseegaran stated Gnanam didn't reply properly when he appraoched, which result in an issue between the two. "Gnanam assaulted Vaseegaran after this in the court premises. Vaseegaran informed an armed reserve police constable posted there, who directed him to special sub-inspector P Desinguraja attached to the Egmore police station," a police officer stated.


"When Desinguraja questioned Gnanam about assaulting Vaseegaran, Gnanam attacked him and ripped his uniform. He later staged a mutual compromise in front of the chief metropolitan magistrate Malarvizhi," an officer stated quoting the SSI's complaint. Vaseegaran and Desinguraja had been handled at a government clinic for injuries.
