Lok Sabha elections 2019: Congress candidate Mithun Rai files nomination

MANGALURU: Congress candidate Mithun Rai filed his nomination papers to contest Lok Sabha election 2019 from Dakshina Kannada parliamentary constituency on Monday, at the penultimate day to submit nominations.

Rai, the president of Dakshina Kannada District Youth Congress, made a unique mention of minister D Ok Shivakumar for his guidance and beef up before submitting his nomination papers.

The Congress – JD(S) coalition candidate along side staff from both the parties held a rally from Town Hall to the deputy commissioner’s workplace prior to the submitting of nomination.


At a celebration staff’ conference held at Town Hall, Rai thanked all senior leaders for proposing his identify to contest from Dakshina Kannada seat.


“I'm thankful to all senior Congress leaders, who unanimously urged my identify to contest from here. I take into account the words of my guru in politics DK Shivakumar, who used to tell me that ‘a leader is the person who makes some other chief, now not followers,” he said thanking KPCC president Dinesh Gundo Rao, coalition coordination committee chairman Siddaramaiah, deputy chief minister G Parameshwara, JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda and chief minister HD Kumaraswamy.


District minister UT Khader advised celebration staff to attempt for the victory of Rai.


“Our purpose is to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister,” he said including that the NDA govt has did not fulfil the promises made of their manifesto," Khader said.
