A forest guard was once killed whilst a forest ranger and other guards were injured when accomplices of local mining mafia attacked them close to Tenua forest of Maci forest vary in Raipur police station area of Sonebhadra district on Friday late night.
SP Sonebhadra Salman Taj Patil mentioned that the primary accused, Laxmikant Yadav, had been arrested after an FIR was once lodged in this connection whilst seek for others was once underway.
On being tipped off, divisional forest officer of Sonebhadra, Sanjiv Kumar Singh rushed forest ranger BP Singh together with a group of forest guards to Padari Tenua forest in Machi vary. When this group raided the forest, Yadav and his accomplices were loading stones on tractor trolleys after unlawful mining, mentioned forest officers. On seeing the forest ranger and his group, Yadav and his accomplices tried to flee. However, the group of forest ranger succeeded in preventing one tractor.
The forest ranger asked forest guards, including Mohan Maurya and Ram Pukar, to board the tractor and succeed in their office. But, when the tractor was once passing through Ratua village, Yadav and his goons intercepted it and attacked the duo. the out of control tractor then fell into a roadside ditch. In the period in-between, the forest ranger together with other group contributors reached there. On seeing them, the assailants attacked them and fled from the scene.
On receiving information, Raipur cops reached there and rushed the injured persons to the local health facility. However, Maurya died on strategy to the health facility.
On Saturday morning, SP Sonebhadra together with the DFO and other officers reached the incident web page. The SP mentioned that on the complaint of DFO Raipur, an FIR was once filed in opposition to Yadav and his unidentified accomplices.
He added that police teams were engaging in raids and the accused will likely be nabbed soon.
