Mumbai witnesses sharp rise in temperatures

MUMBAI: At 40.3 levels Celsius on Monday, Mumbai recorded the absolute best most temperatures for the 12 months thus far. The most temperature recorded by way of the India Meteorological Department's Santa Cruz observatory used to be a minimum of seven levels above standard.

Shubhangi Bhute, climate expert from IMD Mumbai stated that IMD had forecast the upward push in temperatures. "The city is currently witnessing easterly winds which are strong and coming from areas like Rajasthan leading to a spike in temperatures. These are hot and dry winds as well. These winds also are seen coming from the land area. Another season for the rise in temperatures is also delayed onset of sea breeze. However a slight dip in the maximum temperatures is expected by Tuesday," she stated.


Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures recorded on Monday by way of the IMD Colaba and Santa Cruz observatory have been 23.8 level C—0.five above standard—and 22 level C which used to be 0.1 above standard—respectively.
