New vehicles to have hi-tech no. plates from Apr

PUNE : High-security registration plates (HSRP) might be seen on vehicles hitting the town’s streets from April 1.
The state govt may also make it obligatory for every automobile already operating on the roads to sport HSRPs. The Pune regional delivery officials said they have been expected a notification to this impact within the close to long run.

As issues stand, it is the sellers’ accountability to affix these number plates on all vehicles manufactured after April 1. The central govt has left it to the state govt to decide whether this regulation will quilt vehicles already operating on the roads.

“All the new vehicles manufactured after April 1 will have to have these registration plates — the sellers will have to ensure that this whilst promoting these vehicles. We had a gathering with the sellers and some manufacturers on Thursday to transparent their doubts,” a RTO professional said.

The professional added that sellers and manufacturers were instructed to supply HSRPs to homeowners of vehicles already on the highway. “Once the order about putting in HSRPs on present vehicles is issued, the delivery division and the RTOs (around the state) will make sure that people do not face any issues. The enforcement of this rule might be carried out in levels,” the professional added.

The professional instructed automobile homeowners to manner their sellers for HSRPs on the earliest, fairly than look ahead to the notification. They should pay a fee to get the number plates fixed, whilst vehicles manufactured from April 1 could have these plates for no additional charge.

“Vehicles homeowners should manner their respective sellers for HSRPs. The manufacturers have approved companies, which are production these plates to standards set through the ministry of delivery. The manufacturers then supply these number plates to the sellers,” the professional defined.

However, it used to be no longer in an instant transparent what would occur to the homeowners of the ones vehicles that aren't being manufactured in India anymore. Such vehicles wouldn't have a dealership community to fall again on.

Another professional, who is associated with the RTO, said the authorities had deliberate for this contingency. “I don’t assume for such automobile homeowners, there may be a direct manner out,” the professional said, including, “The delivery division will touch upon these types of issues within the notification.”

The professional said the RTOs will conduct an consciousness campaign and hold camps, as soon as the notification is out. “Vehicle homeowners can attend the camps and at once connect to the manufacturers of HSRPs. The Union delivery ministry has put the onus on the state govt to decide if the previous vehicles should have HSRPs. Once the notification is out, the RTO could have a course of action ready,” the professional added.
