PUNE: Mayor Mukta Tilak on Thursday announced the launch of a three-year Pune road safety marketing campaign to scale back twist of fate fatalities by way of 30% all over the period.
The marketing campaign is the primary segment of the plans to fulfill the target of zero road twist of fate fatalities by way of 2028, as stated within the town’s complete mobility plan. Tilak mentioned, “The Pune Municipal Corporation’s road division, traffic police, Regional Transport Office, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited and many NGOs will work intently. This is not a week-long or 15-day pressure. It’s a continuing effort.”
PMC road division head Aniruddha Pawaskar, inspector (traffic police) Vijay Bajare, deputy RTO Sanjay Raut, PMPML’s Sunil Gavali and representatives of many NGOs have been present all over the announcement. Harshad Abhyankar from Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP), India, mentioned about 12-15 projects involving all organizations shall be launched instantly.
A core committee has been formed comprising heads of the PMCs road and electric departments, Pune traffic police, PMPML, RTO and 5 NGOs. The panel is chaired by way of Tilak. Among the PMC’s duties shall be to ensure marked stage crossings throughout 100km roads within the town and monthly maintenance of pedestrian and zebra crossing marks in all wards. The traffic police have to ensure use of helmets and take action towards oldsters for permitting minors to use automobiles.
The PMPML has to repair left-side doors of all its 331 buses running on the BRTS routes. The RTO has to carry using faculties on board to be sure that the brand new drivers recognize pedestrians.
