PUNE: Sindhi businessman Sunny Suresh Dogia was a 45-day-old child when his folks brought him to India from Pakistan. On Thursday, at the age of 29 years and a pair of months, he was granted Indian citizenship, finishing a long denial period of basic vote casting rights and the purchase of a passport.
Dogia was among 45 refugees from Pakistan to get Indian citizenship from Pune district collector Naval Kishore Ram inside of an afternoon of listening to and without going thru any cumbersome procedure. Ram stated all of them would get vote casting rights inside of every week.
All 45 — 44 Sindhis and one from Andhra Pradesh — had relocated to India from Pakistan and had began residing in Pune district. “We have lived here since our adolescence. We affiliate ourselves with this country although we were born there (Pakistan). Finally, we belong where we must,” stated Sindhu.
Balasaheb Runwal of ‘Mere Apne’ has been following up the circumstances of the people granted citizenship on Thursday with the collector’s place of business. He stated, “It (the citizenship) was long due and now they can declare other advantages from the government.”
Rajni turns into Indian again
Rajni Premnath (61) from Ulhasnagar on Thursday changed into an Indian citizen again.
After getting married to B Premnath from Karachi in Pakistan, she had modified her citizenship and changed into a Pakistani national in 1973. Premnath was a small-time advisor in the automotive sector in Karachi.
After staying in Pakistan for 31 years, Rajni determined to come back to India in 2004 for the education of her three daughters. “From 2004, my struggle was on to get my citizenship back,” stated the homemaker.
