Robbery gang busted, booty worth Rs 1.41L seized

PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad crime department detected 4 instances of theft and recovered valuables value Rs1.41 lakh after busting a four-member gang on Tuesday.
The arrested suspects have been recognized as Manoj Gaikwad (24), Nasir Shaikh (25), Someshwar Mhaske (22) from Beed district and Raghunath Kalakekar (25) from Nanded district. All 4 currently live in Bhosari.

An officer from the crime department mentioned the suspects had stolen the property at the pretext of offering lifts. Two of the instances had been registered with the Hinjewadi police station and one every with the Wakad and Warje Malwadi police stations.

The robbers had been arrested after a cellphone stolen by the suspects was activated near Bhosari. “On February 10, central govt staffer Mukesh Kapoor sought a lift from 4 males near Wakad Bridge. The males then robbed him of money, a cellphone and a tablet. The valuables stolen from Kapoor had been collectivity value Rs1.25 lakh. During investigations, the robbed cellphone was tracked near Bhosari. The police traced the woman who was the use of the telephone and brought her to the crime department for wondering. The lady printed that she had won the cellphone as a present from her good friend Someshwar Mhaske,” the officer mentioned.

The lady also informed the police that Mhaske was staying together with his pals in Bhosari. “Further investigations printed that Mhaske and his pals had a prison file. This stuck the suspicion of the police and a criminal offense department workforce led by senior inspector Sudhir Aspat swung into motion to nab the suspects,” the officer mentioned.


The police workforce took all of the 4 males into custody on Tuesday. “During wondering, the suspects admitted to their involvement in robbing an individual by offering him a lift on February 10. The police recovered one of the crucial valuables that the suspects stole from Kapoor, including 40,000, his cellphone and the tablet — jointly value Rs68,000,” the officer mentioned.


The gang had also robbed a 53-year-old man on the similar spot in Hinjewadi and one every at Wakad and Warje. “The police have recovered 3 mobile phones and other valuables value Rs73,000 from them,” the officer added.


The police have recovered a couple of more mobile phones from the crowd. “We suspect that the 4 used similar modus to rob several others. But no such court cases have been registered thus far. Our probe is on,” mentioned sub-inspector Vitthal Badhe.
