HYDERABAD: Former minister and Congress MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy, who has decided to join the TRS, met CM K Chandrasekhar Rao at his camp office ‘Pragathi Bhavan’ on Wednesday. Her three sons also attended the meeting. Sabitha decided to switch sides in spite of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s bid to keep her in the birthday party fold.
After a two-hour meeting with KCR, Sabitha’s son Karthik Reddy advised reporters that they'd join TRS officially at a public meeting in Chevella. Without divulging main points of the meeting, Karthik said it was a ‘courtesy call’. “KCR advised us what he had in thoughts and we exchanged a few ideas,” he said.
Sabitha, who's Maheshwaram MLA, is the fifth legislator to abandon Congress. The others are Rega Kantha Rao (Pinapaka), Atram Sakku (Asifabad), Haripriya Naik (Yellandu) and C Lingaiah (Nakrekal). The Congress which had 19 MLAs is now right down to 14.
Sources said TRS was taking into consideration a berth for Sabitha in KCR cupboard but there was no readability on whether Karthik would be given the Chevella LS seat which he aspires for. Karthik was disappointed that Congress didn't give him the ticket for the Rajendranagar Assembly section. He had contested Chevella LS seat in 2014 and misplaced.
Sabitha had shared the dais with Rahul Gandhi on March 9 at Shamshabad in Hyderabad. But as phrase of her becoming a member of TRS unfold, TPCC operating president Revanth Reddy attempted convincing her in opposition to leaving the birthday party, but to no avail.
Sabitha has huge make stronger in Chevella
For TRS, getting Sabitha into the birthday party fold is necessary for one reason why. Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who had gained Chevella on a TRS ticket in 2014, left the birthday party and joined Congress ultimate year. He had also executed some harm to TRS in the December 2018 meeting elections as might be observed in the defeat of former state minister P Mahendar Reddy from Tandur meeting constituency.
Sabitha enjoys considerable make stronger in Chevella and is likely to campaign in opposition to Vishweshwar who the Congress is likely to field. In the ultimate couple of days, she had also met TRS operating president K T Rama Rao. MIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi may be said to have performed a task in convincing her to join TRS. Sabitha’s husband, Indra Reddy, was elected from Chevella meeting constituency 4 occasions and served as home minister. After he died in a road accident, Sabitha joined politics.
She served as home minister when YS Rajasekhara Reddy was leader minister. She was two times elected from Chevella meeting constituency and two times from Maheshwaram. In 2014, she misplaced the seat.
