VARANASI: Stone pelting on Vande Bharat Express continues as around nine window panes of the rustic's fastest train were broken in a contemporary incident close to Sarsaul railway station in Kanpur Nagar district on Sunday, police said on Monday.
After registering a case on this connection, GRP Varanasi transferred it to Maharajpur police station in Kanpur on Monday for additional investigation.
Inspector (GRP) Varanasi Cantt railway station, Ashok Kumar Dubey said when the train reached here from Delhi on Sunday afternoon the railway officials lodged an FIR against eight unidentified persons for attacking the train.
In their complaint, the railway officials discussed that Varanasi-bound Vande Bharat Express left Kanpur after scheduled stoppage and when it was once passing through the outskirts of Sarsaul railway station, eight youths status close to railway tracks started pelting stones on it. A complete of nine windowpanes were broken, alternatively, no passenger suffered injuries in the incident fortunately.
Dubey said that when the train reached here, officials gave a written complaint after which an FIR was once lodged under Section 52 of Railway Act, Sections 147, 149, 336 of IPC and Section 7 of Criminal Law Act. As the world of incident lied in Kanpur Nagar district, he said, the case was once transferred to police station concerned for additional investigation and action.
The GRP officials said this was once 2nd FIR lodged in connection with attacking Vande Bharat Express on this region. Earlier, an FIR was once lodged with Suriyava police in Bhadohi district final month, they said. Since its advent between Delhi and Varanasi on February 18, the train were attacked greater than seven instances, said the officials.
