THANE: Three individuals were arrested for allegedly practicing witchcraft and black magic as well as maintaining a human cranium inside of a shanty at a Kalwa slum.
Those arrested were identified as Raju Sharma, Kailas Hatkar, reportedly a tantrik (black magician) and Pandurang Gawari, from Ulhasnagar.
The police stated that Sharma procured a human cranium from Hatkar and stored it at his position for the last three months in order to practise witchcraft and black magic which is illegal underneath law. Hatkar had procured the cranium from Gawari who works in a cemetery in Ulhasnagar. Another cranium used to be recovered from Hatkar.
"Sharma owns a salon after his catering business failed. However, very few frequented his shop making it another loss-making venture," stated a police reliable. In a bid to give a boost to his fortunes, Sharma paid Rs 6,000 for the cranium and procured it from Hatkar to follow black magic, the police stated. Acting on a tip-off, the cops raided the premises of the accused on Thursday and located the cranium and other items used for the follow of black magic.
