Western Railway sets daily collection target for TTEs

SURAT: Western Railway (WR) has given goal to travelling price ticket examiners (TTEs) for amassing day by day penalty of Rs9,000 from ticketless travellers in trains. The goal has been revised through WR government due to spike in ticketless travelling in trains operating between Surat and Mumbai.

Sources said the target given to the TTEs for amassing Rs9,000 high-quality amount through Western Railway is unrealistic. About 1,000 TTEs working in Mumbai department have gathered Rs9 crore from Surat to Mumbai from ticketless travellers in quite a lot of trains in the final fortnight.

Railway officers, then again, said the revision of goal for the TTEs is a regimen exercise.

A body of workers representing the TTE association alleged that imposition of this kind of burden affects the morale of employees and sought after upper government to take corrective steps, failing which they won't be able to deliver 100%. Under such cases, the workers would flout the foundations to satisfy the unrealistic goal.

A TTE said that the revised goal was set lately and that those on duty in peak hours on mail or express trains have been given goal of Rs9,000 in keeping with day to be gathered from ticketless travellers. For those in native trains, the target has been fixed at Rs4,000 in keeping with day.
