On Thursday, the government have demolished the unauthorised structures and tin sheds of 4 diary farms at Rokdobawadi in Deolali village. Water provide and drainage line of those dairy farms had been also disconnected.
"The town planning department has submitted a list of illegal dairy farms to the encroachment department and the encroachment department has started taking action from Nashik Road division. Last week eight such farms were demolished and on Thursday four more were demolished," stated a civic professional.
"First we will complete the action in one division and then move on to others. The encroachment department keeps the area of action a secret till the last moment to avoid alerting the dairy farm owners. They had not taken permission from the civic body for their dairy farms," the professional added.
He stated the municipal corporation would proceed the action towards illegal dairy farms in residential spaces. "The unauthorised dairy farms had been asked to shift out of the city immediately but they have not done so. Those who have not shifted their dairy farms should do so immediately or else we will demolish them without giving any notice. The electricity, water and drainage line connections of these farms will also be snapped."
The municipal corporation will recover the bills incurred by way of it for the demolition power from the farm house owners. "We can also register offences against the owners of illegal farms. Hence, it is better that they shift their farms outside the city," the professional stated.
